ExploreChina, September 29th, the first ever Yangtze River 5G network coverage verification and optimization in cooperation with China Mobile Jiangsu Branch, Purple Mountain Laboratories, and Rohde&Schwarz has been successfully drawn to a close by Dingli Corp., Ltd. in Changjiang Nanjing Waterway. The activity covers 10-kilometer distance ranging from Nanjing Victory Memorial Hall across the Yangtze River to Yanziji, which includes the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and Jiangyin Xiagang Estuary.
Before the live 5G network deployment, China Mobile (Jiangsu) had installed 8 5G NSA sites along the Changjiang Nanjing Waterway. The eventual 5G sites commissioning involves comprehensive network optimization process which involve Single Site Verification (SSV), RF and KPIs optimization, network acceptance and others. This is crucial to satisfy the quality of service and experience expected by the river cruisers’ subscribers. The challenging task was made possible with Dingli’s latest 5G NR test and measurement solution.
The test conditions were not ideal to say the least. The weather elements such as the wind and waves affected the 5G signal strength, and the boat used for the test was unable to maintain a steady speed as it needs a safe distance between passing vessels.
The signal reflection from the water surface may further extend the LTE coverage, which in turn leads to failure to connect (or maintain) connection to the 5G base station. Such varied conditions require repeated tests, parameters adjustments and tuning, re-configuring the 4G-5G neighbor cells, and setting the priority for anchor cells, in order to achieve an optimize network environment.
As a result, with the joint efforts of DingLi’s technical team and other partners such as Huawei, Purple Mountain Laboratories, Rohde&Schwarz and China Mobile (Jiangsu Branch), the 5G NR signal is optimized with maximum coverage over the Yangtze River range. This includes a stable and smooth 8K HD video transmission for the maritime institution.
The Yangtze River 5G NR coverage test and optimization project has received compliments from the Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration where the 5G technology adoption will further extend its maritime economic and information development. In addition, Dingli’s active participation in the project also gained recognition from the customers, and laid a solid foundation for future network test and optimization projects and solution.
DingLi strives to maintain its professionalism and dedication in every aspect of its product development and services. The valuable experience and knowledge gained from this project shall be used to improve our future 5G product portfolio.
